Three Chillicothe youth will perform in the Peoria Ballet production of Nutcracker at the Peoria Civic Center Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 13.
Jeremiah Bauer, 17, a home-school student and the son of Jerry and Jeannie Bauer, has been dancing with the Peoria Ballet for five years.
He has performed in numerous Nutcrackers, as well as Giselle, Wings and Cinderella.
Bauer is active in the Boy Scouts and just finished his Eagle Scout project. He is very active in his church and community volunteer work.
He is dancing the roles of Harlequin Doll, Russian and Flower Escort.
His sister, Amariah, is 15 and also a home-school student.
She has been dancing for six years and has attended a summer intensive at Ballet Magnificat.
She has performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cinderella, Giselle, Wings and many Nutcrackers.
She is also involved in Venture Crew. Amariah is dancing the roles of Flower, Snowflake and Spanish.
Kaylea Dickson, 7, is the home-schooled daughter of Cecil and Sue Dickson.
She has been dancing for two years and said she loves ballet. She is dancing the role of Mouse is this year’s Nutcracker. She is also an avid reader.
Several prestigious guest artists will perform in this year’s Nutcracker.
Sarah Hairston, a soloist with the Cincinnati Ballet, will dance the role of Sugar Plum Fairy. She has danced with the Cincinnati Ballet since 2001 and, prior to that, danced with Boston Ballet.
Zach Grubbs, soloist with Cincinnati Ballet, will dance the role of Cavalier. He has danced with Cincinnati Ballet for six seasons and danced with the Boston Ballet for the four years prior.
Other guests include Adam Kittleberger and Ben Rabe of Rochester City Ballet, Kristina Ancil of NoMi LaMed Dance Inc. and Edward McPherson, freelance artist.
Peoria Ballet Company members Rebekah von Rathyoni and Lauren Trerice will perform the roles of Dew Drop Queen and Arabian, respectively.
Von Rathyoni danced with Compania Nacional de Danza in Mexico City and Rochester City Ballet prior to coming to Peoria Ballet.
Trerice danced with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Both have delighted in numerous Peoria Ballet productions and are crowd favorites.
The Nutcracker is a family holiday tradition and perhaps the most popular of all ballets.
