Homes are decorated, the cooking is complete, the wood is carved and the wreaths designed, all in time for Christmas on 6th Street Saturday.

At Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, 1023 N. Sixth St., gifts for giving and decorating will be for sale throughout the day.

Featured shops, all open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., include Ye Ole Country Store, filled with breads, soups, mixes, friendship tea, fireside coffee and pizzelles.

At the Cookie Nook, select from a wide variety of homemade cookies, and do the same at the Candy Shoppe and the Pastries and Jam Shoppe.

The Holiday Gift Shoppe features one-of-a-kind handmade items, and Paws and Claws has treats and toys for pets.

The Woodcutter’s Shoppe displays wooden items made by local crafters, and the Antique Boutique contains antiques and collectibles.

The Holiday Greenery Shoppe sports live wreaths and poinsettias, and Creative Holiday Decor offers handmade holiday decorations and ornaments.

Take a break from shopping at Coffee Cafe for a warm drink and cinnamon rolls.

A silent auction, which runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., features hand-crafted gift items, artwork, personal services, food and more.

The luncheon, with serving from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., includes baked ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, tossed salad rolls, coffee or tea.

Advanced tickets are $7, $8 the day of the event.

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m., four area homes will be open for touring.

Mike and Tammy Stumbaugh, at 1710 W. Benedict, feature an all-year-round snowman room.

Karen Roche of 307 Sycamore Trail offers a state-of-the-art kitchen and two patios — one with a waterfall and electronic dog doors.

Then it is on to 422 N. First St., the home of Terry and Jean Ruhland. The flat-roof-style home typical of Frank Lloyd Wright homes was built by Plum Creek Builders, Terry’s company. The home features an Illinois River view and a bamboo room.

The final home is owned by Linda Johnson, 15347 N. Seventh St., which was built by her son of J&J Construction Co. It features four Christmas trees, Santa and snow globe collections, as well as a Dickens Christmas village and Santa’s workshop.

Home-tour tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at the church, Picket Fence, Monier’s Flowers in Peoria Heights or at any of the homes.
