Construction, no matter how annoying and time consuming, is a good thing. Change is, essentially, good, as they say.
No matter what type of construction, we are always rebuilding — whether it is road construction, a new building or remodeling an old one.
I was able to take a tour of the new addition to the Dunlap High School, and although they are behind, it seems like it will be an amazing addition to the school.
The rain has set the construction workers back quite a bit, which isn’t surprising to anyone, but they are slowly making progress, now through the humidity.
When I visited on Thursday, they were finally pouring the concrete for the floors and preparing to install an entire wall of windows.
The addition will bring to the school two new computer labs, a new chemistry lab and five other traditional classrooms.
In my short time covering Dunlap, the district seems to always be hard at work with constant improvements.
The construction working to improve the high school is definitely something of which the families of Dunlap should be excited. The computer and chemistry labs will be fully equipped with new computers and lab equipment, the classrooms will have brand new SMART boards and the hallways will be lined with fresh lockers, carpeting and paint.
A new school year brings new beginnings and what better way to start than with the smell of fresh paint and a whole new wing of school to explore?
Unfortunately, students and parents alike will have to wait a few weeks after school starts to be able to fully experience it.
While Dunlap residents must sit in anticipation for the new addition to the high school, they may see the other renovations done over the summer.
The high school re-did the gymnasium floor, adding a new center piece — a giant eagle with wings wide open.
The floor looks great, to say the least.
It is easy to see that the schools in the area are proud to represent their eagle mascot and proud to say they belong to Dunlap. So, just hold on tight, Eagles, that new addition will be opened soon enough.
