The IVC football team will be going up against Rock Island Alleman for the first round playoff game Saturday.
Here is some brief information about the team and how they did in regular season play.
The IVC football team, No. 6 seed, will be heading to Lindberg Stadium at Augustana College to face Rock Island Alleman, No. 3 seed, in the first round playoff game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Alleman is a member of the Western Big 6 Conference that is comprised mostly of Quad Cities schools. Alleman holds a 4-1 record in the conference and 7-2 overall.
Lead by head coach Dave DeJaegher, whose coaching record at Alleman sits at 98-35, the
Pioneers have scored a total of 273 points this season and given up 138. The highest scoring
game was 57-26 over East Moline High School (1-8).
Alleman has 24 returning lettermen from the 2012 season when they went 12-2.
The two losses came from Peoria High School, 38-36, and Rock Island High School, 13-7.
IVC finished the regular season with a 6-3 overall and 5-1 West Central Conference record.
The Grey Ghosts scored 294 points and gave up 196 this season.
IVC last made it to the playoffs in 2010 with an 8-3 overall record playing in the North Central Illinois Conference.
In 2007, however, IVC and Rock Island Alleman played each other in the first round of the state finals. IVC won 18-14.
