Doris Jean Taylor, 90, of Henry, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at her home in Henry.
Born Dec. 29, 1922, in Chillicothe to James and Edna (Crotz) Newell, she married Orval Harvey Taylor Dec. 13, 1941, in Lacon. He died July 5, 1997.
Surviving are her children, Don (Pat) Taylor, of Pekin, Steve Taylor, Phyllis Johnson, both of Henry, and Susan (Jim) Monk, of East Peoria; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, Harold Newell of Galesburg; Ralph (Bea) Newell of Anamosa, Iowa; Leonard (Julie) Newell, of Antioch, Tenn.; Barb (Frank) James, Kenny (Donna) Newell and Alice Gengler, all of Chillicothe; Ritchie Newell of Indianapolis, Ind.; Dale Newell of Henry; Linda (Jim) Foster of East Peoria; and Dewey (Elaine) Newell of Bradford.
Two brothers, Everett and Danny Newell; and one sister, Mildred (Lorene) Bailey; preceded her in death.
She and her husband owned and operated Taylor’s Apple Orchard in Henry for 18 years, and she also was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Henry Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, 513 Carroll St., Henry. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the memorial home with an hour visitation prior to the service. The Rev. Mark Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery in Henry.
