Darrow Duane (Jack) Jackson, born Jan. 24, 1938, in Kankakee, Ill., a retired banker, avid tobacconist and Army veteran, son of Clarence Darrow (Jack) Jackson and Susan Ricchi Jackson left this earth on Jan. 15, 2013, on his own terms, of course, and was surrounded by the love of his children, Denise Lynne Jackson of Cardiff, Calif., Steven Darrow Jackson of Rancho Sahuarita, Ariz., and Kathleen Andrea Jackson of Mesa, Ariz.

After a bit of a wait and with some strings pulled by his mother, Jack checked into heaven on the morning of Jan. 16, 2013. Jack’s body failed him, but his spirit remained strong to the end.

Jack is also survived by Theresa Kane Jackson of Green Valley, Ariz., Susan Jackson Ludwig of Kankakee, Ill., Karen Ricchi Contois of Momence, Ill., Siobhan O’Boyle Jackson of Rancho Sahuarita, Ariz.; and his two grandsons, Aidan Darrow Jackson and Kieran Zachariah Jackson, of Rancho Sahuarita, Ariz.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at noon at Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, Ariz.

In accordance with his wishes, Jack’s ashes will be sprinkled in the spring in the Saguaro Desert in Tucson, Ariz.

Remembrances in Jack’s name may be sent to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.
