Parents, teachers, local businesses and community members are asked to show their support for IVC athletics by attending the annual Chili Supper Jan. 11 at the Illinois Valley Central High School.
Chili and hotdogs will be served from 4:30-7 p.m. Advanced tickets can be purchased for $5 from basketball players and wrestlers, or from the Athletic Directors office. Tickets purchased at the door will be $6.
The IVC sophomore and varsity boys’ teams will be playing St. Bede that evening.
The sophomore boys’ game starts at 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at 7:30 p.m. A 50/50 drawing will be held at half time of the boys’ varsity game.
“The IVC Ghost Boosters continue to make a dramatic impact for the IVC athletic department and athletes. The Ghost Boosters committed to making five $10,000 installments towards the new scoreboards. This year is the third installment,” club secretary, Sue Minter Furuholmen said.
“In addition to the scoreboard commitment, the Boosters have about $5,000 in additional expenses that support the athletes at IVC. The main sources of our funds are derived through concession sales, golf outing, program advertisement sales, membership dues, and the Chili Supper. Only through your continued help, will we be able to maintain that level of support.”
