Virgil E. “Zeke” Closen, 79, of Chillicothe, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Feb. 6, 1933, in Peoria to Anna Closen and Hank Mohn, he married Marilyn Balbinot on Nov. 10, 1962, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Lori (Gilbert) Simmons of Toulon and Lisa Braasch of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Jackson and Jerry Jackson of Toulon, and William (Delana) Jackson of Bryan, Texas; one sister, Phyllis (Donald) Cravens of Toulon; and two stepbrothers; James Jackson of Couch, Mo., and Robert Jackson of Lacon.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two step-brothers.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 9 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4999.
He was employed by the Operating Engineers Local 649.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a gathering of friends and relatives for a celebration of life was at his home Dec. 23.
