The Illinois Valley Central High School Vocal Music Department will present Season of Joy, a choral presentation of holiday music at 3 p.m. and, again, at 5 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium. The popularity of the IVC Choir concerts prompted director Angie Dorough to schedule a second concert.

Six different vocal ensembles, as well as various soloists, will perform standards such as, “Joy to the World,” and, “Jingle Bell Rock.” They will also perform some new seasonal pieces too, according to Dorough. All performers will come together at the end of the concert to perform, “Oh Holy Night.” Dorough describes the final number as, “breathtaking.’

“The students have been working so hard this year, I have no doubt that they will enchant their audiences,” she notes.

She explained that the choirs will give two separate concerts this year to ease the crowding found at the earlier concerts. “We have had such a problem with overcrowding in the past. I thought we would try two concerts and see if we can get everybody in the auditorium, and in a chair, this year. Both concerts will be identical so you won’t miss anything,” Dorough reports.

Both concerts are free and open to the public.
