A Chillicothe native will show off her baking skills in TLC’s third season of Next Great Baker.
A 1999 Illinois Valley Central High School graduate, Jess (Kornbrust) Reyling traveled to Hoboken, N.J., this fall for a chance to win $100,000, a feature in Redbook magazine and work with the “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro and his team at Carlo’s Bakery.
The 31-year-old now lives in Peoria and is the mother of three boys, all ages 4 and under.
Reyling said last week she thinks she may be the only person on the show who does not run a cake business.
She is competing against 12 others, which features challenges to put their skills to the test as they face elimination, and special judges, such as Mario Lopez and Courtney Mazza, Lou Ferrigno, Peter Billingsley of “A Christmas Story,” Holly Madison and Joey Fatone.
“Each season brings out stronger contestants and I think this is the best batch yet. The challenges are tougher, the judges more critical, and the reward as sweet as ever,” said Valastro through a press release.
The special 90-minute premiere airs at 8 p.m. Monday on TLC and is a 10-episode show.
While Reyling intended to watch the show at home, her friends insisted on a premiere party.
The public is welcome to watch the show with her on a giant projection television at Gracie’s Sports Grill and Pizza in Washington. With her husband a Marine, she is asking all those who attend to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated for Toys for Tots that night. The party begins around 7:30 p.m.
