Victor G. Gonzalez, 91, of Chillicothe died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Peoria to Arnulfo and Maria Garcia Gonzalez, he married Dora C. Ramos on May 6, 1950, in Chillicothe. She survives.
Surviving are his children, Elaine (Richard) Crady of Chillicothe, Carlos Gonzalez of Chillicothe, Ralph Gonzalez of Tremont, Annette (Kevin) Snodgrass of Pekin, Victor Gonzalez of Chillicothe and Marc Gonzalez of Chillicothe; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Alejandro Gonzalez of Yuma, Ariz.; and one sister, Elena Rivas of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Victoria; three brothers; and four sisters.
He worked for Celotex Corp. in Peoria for more than 25 years.
He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed being a disc jockey playing Mexican music.
He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army in the 9th Infantry during World War II. He received the Purple Heart. He was a member and past commander of the Chillicothe VFW Post 4999 and the bingo chairman.
Funeral mass was Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church. The Rev. Keith Walder officiated. Visitation was Sunday evening with a recitation of the rosary at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial was in Chillicothe City Cemetery with military rites.
