The Professional Development Institute at Illinois Central College is hosting a free training session on residential heating and air conditioning systems and the new Illinois Energy Code. The free training is from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the ICC North Campus, 5407 N. University, Peoria.
The training is provided by the Illinois Energy Office to support implementation of the 2012 Illinois Energy Conservation Code which goes into effect Jan. 1. It is geared toward homebuilders, HVAC contractors, code officials, and those interested in home performance. Topics covered include loads, sizing, duct design, ventilation, and compliance documentation.
The session is a hands-on class, and participants need to bring pencils with erasers, a scale ruler, and a duct calculator. A limited number of duct calculators will be available for purchase at the training.
