The Peoria Regional Chapter of the Autism Society of America will host a “Quarter Auction” fundraiser from 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Hall, 1505 E. Lake St. in Peoria Heights.

A “Quarter Auction” is a cross between “Bingo” and an “auction.” A variety of vendors (jewelry, kitchen items, home decorating, etc.) will put items up for auction that you can bid on with a designated amount of quarters based on the value of that item. Some of the vendors participating include Parkline Jewelry, Tastefully Simple, Miche, Stampin Up, and Scentsy.

Lisa Gerontes-Bowe, president of the PRC of ASA said, “Quarter auctions are a great way to spend the evening with friends as a “Ladies Night Out” activity! You have the opportunity to donate funds for autism and go home with some nice merchandise that costs you only quarters.”

A Kindle Fire and Autism puzzle quilt will be raffled off with ticket prices of $5 each. Door prizes and a 50/50 raffle will also be available. A $15 admission fee will pay for your food and one bidding paddle. Additional paddles also will be sold. See the website, www.autismpeoria.org, for a further list of vendors and details.

April is “Autism Awareness” month. All funds raised will stay in the Tri-county area and will be used to fund mini-grants for families and the community as well as autism awareness activities.
