The Illinois Valley Central boys' season came to an end in a heartbreaking 56-55 loss to Metamora in the Ottawa Regional Tuesday night.
Metamora held a 21-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 32-26 lead at halftime.
Clutch shots from Bryce Jackson kept IVC in the game at the end of the third quarter when Metamora held a 44-40 lead.
IVC cut the lead to one-point with 3.9 seconds left when Connor Smithson knocked down a three-pointer.
On the ensuing possession, the Ghosts fouled and Metamora missed the free throw, but time expired as the Ghosts fought for the ball.
