The Illinois Valley Central Spiritts pompon team won several awards at the Universal Dance Association Camp July 5-8 at Illinois State University.

The team, which features 18 members, won a Superior trophy for their performances of various dance routines the girls learned during the camp.

Each girl learned three routines at camp, which were then judged for a blue, red or white ribbon.

The IVC team won 46 blue ribbons out of 54 total ribbons.

Delaney Lawson auditioned for the All-American team and made it for the second straight year.

Madison Auge was also named to the team.

Auge also was a Pin it Forward winner for her hard work and attitude during the camp.

The girls must learn a short routine and then add 16 counts of their own choreography, which was judged by the UDA staff.

The All-American winners were invited to perform with other winners at a UDA appearance in London over Christmas break.

The Spiritts started the camp with an important win by being awarded the Super Spirit Stick on the first night.

The team passed the honor to the Galesburg team the following night.

The Spiritts were named one of the two most improved teams by the UDA staff on the final day.

For their effort, the team was awarded a six-gallon Gatorade cooler and a trophy.

Coach Lorelei Lawson won the Coaches Leadership Award on the final day.

The award was voted on by the other coaches at the camp.
