William E. Frampton, 79, of Chillicothe died at 2:53 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was formerly of Pekin.

Born Nov. 14, 1931, in Pekin to William L. and Ida Mae (Taylor) Frampton, he married Betty Crooks on Jan. 15, 1965, in Pekin. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2011, in Peoria.

Also preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Billie Jo (Gary) Schaefer of Chillicothe; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and one sister, Norma Wilson of Booneville, Ind.

He worked for American Distillery in Pekin until its closure in 1984. He then worked for the Carpenters Union Local 644, retiring in 1996.

He also worked for the Millwrights Union Local 1051.

He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from Jan. 23, 1952, until Aug. 27, 1956.

He was a member of Hopedale United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Roy L. King VFW Post 1232, AMVETS Post 235, William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 and Eagles Aerie 1869, all of Pekin. He was also a member of Delavan Masonic Lodge 156, AF&AM.

Masonic rites were Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. His funeral followed with the Rev. Mike Peters officiating. Visitation was prior to the funeral. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military honors were provided by the Military Funeral Honors Team of Illinois and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
