The Illinois Valley Central School District is a step closer to the development of a set of goals to guide the district’s decision-making through the next five years.

More than 45 individuals representing the school, city and community at-large met for the third time last week to set the vision for the district’s strategic plan.

The Strategic Planning Team met for the six-hour retreat at IVC High School and participated in several activities to help shape the vision of the document.

Prior to the retreat, team members were asked to view several videos to better understand the needs of 21st Century students and what is needed to help schools become more
productive learning environments.

The team will meet again Feb. 16 to set goals for the strategic plan.

Perry Soldwedel has facilitated the strategic planning process.

Soldwedel, of the Consortium for Educational Change, was a teacher, principal and superintendent of Pekin’s grade school district. He has been with the consortium since 2004.

District administrators would like additional community input.
