Chillicothe St. Jude runners are running toward a big goal this year – at least $100,000.

Since 2005, the runners have raised more than $162,000 for the cause, assisting children in need of cancer treatment.

To help the runners make their goal, businesses can leave their footprints of approval for the cause as a sponsor.

For $75, business owners may buy a magnetic footprint to be placed on the chase vehicle runners will use Aug. 7, the day of the race. After the race, the sponsor will receive the footprint.

Twenty-seven businesses so far are assisting in the cause.

They include: Wallin’s Carpet Care, Lingenfelter Insurance, Riverside Chevy, Edward Jones Investments - Mike Denzer, SC2 Supply Chain Services, Paula’s Hallmark, Tim and Shelly’s 2nd Street Bar & Grill, Beau’s Tire and Auto Center, Geiger True Value, Castaways, RLI, Crothers Chiropractic, Technicraft, Cover Electric, Tobin Brothers Inc., Kahuna ATM Solutions, Gillespie Group – Coldwell Banker, Little Tykes Learning Adventures, Advanced Siding and Window, Complete Home Respiratory Care, Subway Chillicothe, Sprinkmann Insulation Inc., ALCO department store, Country Financial – Cam Parr, Tequilas Mexican Bar & Grill, HeadGames Salon and Hair Company Kids.

To purchase a magnetic footprint, contact any of the Chillicothe St. Jude runners or run committee member Eric Greskoviak at 231-1905. Deadline is July 31.

In order to run Aug. 7, each Chillicothe runner must raise support.

On the day of the run, the team begins in Chillicothe at 6:30 a.m. and travels 56 miles through Illinois Valley Central District 321 neighborhoods in Chillicothe, Dunlap, Mossville, Edelstein, Rome and Peoria.

Residents may line Fourth Street from Truitt Avenue to Super 8 around 1 p.m. when runners and Chillicothe’s own St. Jude kids come directly through town.

The run builds to the St. Jude telethon that evening when the runners will present their money raised to St. Jude.
