Illinois Valley Central High School senior Ross Romane took first place in the shot put Saturday at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational at the indoor track at Monmouth College.

Romane threw 50 feet-7 inches in the 23-school meet.

“I was very happy for Ross,” said coach Mike Themas. “His best indoor throw last year was 42-6.
To improve to 50-7 is amazing. He has thrown 48 feet to 49 feet in practice, but never 50 feet.

Romane now qualifies for the indoor Top Times Indoor Classic this Friday at Illinois Wesleyan University. This meet will include the top efforts from this year’s indoor meets. Senior David Weber also qualified early in the year in the 800m run.”
