Burtnett captured river, Chillicothe history for Bulletin
From the time Bob Burtnett’s columns graced the pages of the Chillicothe Bulletin in December 1952 until December 1975, Burtnett kept Chillicothe residents afloat with memories in his weekly column.
His column, “Along the Riverfront,” featured the Illinois River, and the boats that set sail on it, intertwined with the history of Chillicothe, as well as some time overseas.
When the Illinois Valley Central football team takes the field Friday night, it will be looking to rebound from a tough loss.
Last week, the Ghosts fell to the Eagles in Dunlap, 35-7.
"We're just trying to correct our mistakes from last week and get better," coach Tim Heinz said.

Chillicothe area classmates of 1983 Illinois Valley Central High School graduate Aaron Schneider headed to Rave Theaters in Peoria for a red-carpet opening of the movie he directed, “Get Low,” starring Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray. He won an Oscar for his short film, “Two Soldiers,” in 2004.
